ATLANTIC SALMON THE LIFE CYCLE

The idea for this video was to give an insight into the life cycle of the Atlantic salmon, from the many body and colour changes it has to undergo after arriving into our rivers to spawn. Hopefully it might help all anglers young and old to recognise the difference between a silver kelt and a fresh springer so that they return all kelts safely rather than killing them by mistake. Every year i see anglers just throwing kelts into the river with total lack of care and then they wonder why there are so few salmon around when they are killing their own sport. I know that there are many other facts surrounding the decline in salmon stocks, but when a fish has come back and proved itself strong enough to breed and head back to sea we should help it to the best of our ability as it will come back again as a much bigger fish. The fish we can see and help are more important than the ones we know nothing about and cannot help.
